Movie Review: Bhool bhulaiyan

This is another mediocre movie from Priyadarshan. The film looks as promising as its sneak peeks and trailers in first half but the plot just fumbles in the second half. Once the mystery is solved, the remaining movie looks like wastage of reels (It happens very earliy in the movie).
Akshay kumar (Aditya Shrivastav) is very predictable through out the movie. Amisha Patel(Radha) has acted as expected (I doubt if anybody expects a good performance from her). Priyadarshan has done a single sensible thing by not giving her much footage in the film. Vidya Balan (Avani) is lackluster and Shiney Ahuja (Siddhartha) is non-existent. Although Paresh Rawal (Batuk Shankar) is very stereotype, he is the only one who makes you laugh in the first half. Rasika Joshi (Janaki - Batuk's wife) is hilarious in one particular scene. Rajpal Yadav (Chhote Pandit) has nothing new to offer in this movie. Apart from a few laughter, movie goes on without invoking any emotions. I will categorize the movie as B grade comedy. Its anything but a thriller. I will bite my tongue twice before calling it a drama.
Story revolves around a cursed property that belongs to the Royal estate. As caretaker of the cursed 'Mahal', Batukshankar arranges for renovation of old property and also arranges an extra income from the expense of renovation. Royal heir Siddhartha returns from US to his town along with his wife, Avani, on a project to build a dam ( He is not once shown on the site of dam neither in the office! All he does is sit in front of his laptop and play with its keyboard.) Siddharth's marriage comes as a disppointment for Uncle and his adopted daughter, Radha. Radha is now heart broken but faces the reality bravely (Yawn!). Despite uncle's warnings Siddharth and his wife decide to stay in the cursed palace.
Story behind the curse goes like this. Old Maharaja is in love with young performer (Manjulika), but Manjulika is in love with another perfomer (Shashidhar). Majulika and Shashidhar plan to run away and start a life together. Maharaja come to know about the plan and beheads Shashidhar before Manjulika. He imprisons Manjulika. Heart broken Manjulika commits sucide but vows to take revenge and kill the maharaja on Durgashtami. Terrified Maharaja performs Yagya and locks the entire floor by 'Bhairon ka Dhaga'. Since then the palace is considered as cursed.
Avani, being a foreign educated 'mem', ridicules the idea of haunted palace and decides to unlock the floor. Locksmith who makes the duplicate key of the floor dies on the very same day. Uncle fears of 'unhonee' and warns Siddharth again and finally decides to stay with the couple in the haunted palace. Uncle's whole family moves in the palace and weird things start to(Ghungroo ki awaz, mujara songs in midnight, woman's voice in Bengali etc. etc.) happen. Siddharth suspects Radha. Everybody, except Uncle, is convinced that Radha is mentally ill and she is behind all the weird things. Siddharth ask his friend, Aditya, to help. Aditya is a renowned Pyschiatrist. He plays a detective and finds out that Avani has multiple personality disorder. She is acting as Manjulika and she could murder Siddharth.
Here is story behind Avani's illness. Her parents leave her with her dadima to find opportunities in US. They then come back to take Avani to US. Avani, who is emotionally attached to her dadi, doesn't want to go, but her parents take her forcefully. Meanwhile, dadima dies and that causes mental trauma to Avani (Oh god, gimme a break!!!).
Now I suppose, this personality disorder gives the patient immense power of lifting a very heavy double bed with a single hand, as well. Avani with her super powers literally single handedly lifts a heavy bed! (bhagwan uthaa ley iss script writer ko).
Aditya takes help of a baba (Vikram Gokhale. Now a days, he plays any type of role in any type of movie. After all, liquor is becoming veryexpensive. He must have some extra income to satiate his enormous beer belly!). Baba performs yagya on Durgashtami. Baba promises Majulika that he will help to take revenge on Maharaja but asks in turn to leave Avani alone. Manjulika accepts the deal. Brilliant Aditya arranges Siddharth's dummy and Manjulika beheads the dummy with a sword (Bhagwan ab mujhe bhi uthaahi ley). After hypnotism, Aditya helps Avani to forget about whatever has happened and treats her illness completely.
Now why do you need a professional to write such crap story? Anybody could write something better than this.
Anyways, for online 'muft' film it was okay. I pity them who paid hard earned money to watch this movie. Its a bhool bhulaiyan for people who watched the movie expecting some entertainment but found no crux.

Everything is relative.

For some people, being right is the ultimate goal of their life. To me their whole life becomes a paradox. Look in the mirror and right becomes left! Live a life of bat and night will be full of light. One one hand, A romantic poet always looks at horizon as dream land where the two entities from different worlds can live together forever. On the other, a scientist can think of horizon as a perfect example of asymptote. What is it really, then? Its both at the same time!
If such is the case, should anybody be in the position to distinguish right from wrong? Should the life of person who lives by his beliefs and principles be shattered?
To avoid chaos that will be created due this right becoming wrong, dark becoming bright we as a society defined set of rules and called them laws. We, the Indians, are proud of our ancient wisdom, our philosophy and our religious literature that precisely tell us the way of living. In fact Hinduism is considered as way of life. Is it too safe to consider that the oldest civilization has witnessed all lifestyles, hence, the path defined in Hindu literature is the truest path? And if I strongly believe that every word in the literature is hundreds and thousands of years of research and hence must have some scientific basis, aren't people with different faiths and beliefs entitled to think the same? And if so, why an entire society with different beliefs become a threat to society if he lives what he believes? Remember that hundreds and thousands of years of assumption about earth's shape was entirely wrong, assumption of Catholic church about earth being center of universe was wrong. There will always be an Aristotle to build fundamentals but there will always be a Galileo to contradict them. There will always be a Newton but there will always be an Edison to prove the theories otherwise.
My point here is everybody is entitled to his own belief. Do not expect people to change their beliefs overnight.
Its not pointed towards anybody. Just came to my mind. Life is a paradox!

British Rule: Boon or bane?

I am sure, every single person in post independence era must have thought over this topic at least once in his lifetime. I can argue in both ways. But my honest opinion is British rule was a boon for Indians. I won’t disagree if any body says that they plundered us of our wealth, they destroyed our ancient education system, they changed our life style, they divided us on religion and caste basis, and they changed our map; divided our country in three pieces. The harm they have done is irreparable. The partition they caused killed millions of people. We can still feel the after effects of partition, Kashmir mess still unresolved, and this is all because of the British diplomacy who thought nothing of the demography of nation before carving out two separate countries.
List the names of powerful rulers of India before British. Names come to my mind are Nizam Shah, Adil Shah and Qutub Shah. Condition of non-mulsim leadership in India was so pathetic that during the Sepoy Mutiny all non-mulsims (Brahman, Marathas, Rajput, Bengalis etc) accepted Bhadur Zafar Shah as the ruler of India. I am very happy that Sikhs and Punjabis did not support the mutiny. I cannot imagine ‘shining’ India under muslim leadership.
Apart from being biggest plunderer of Hindu wealth and biggest destroyer of Hindu religion, its the pattern in the growth of countries lead by mulsims which bothers me a lot. Its anything but a growth. Its downfall of muslim countries which gives sense of relief and makes me think that British has made biggest favor to India by helping her to get rid of muslim leaders. They are no more conquerors anymore but are minorities in India. Its not muslims that I hate. I hate Islam. Any person with even a little knowledge of human history knows that reasoning power of humans makes us superior than any other kind in the world. If Earth is only planet with life, it makes us the only superior kind in entire universe. Continuous change is the key of our evolution. These very things are denied in Islam. No word can be changed in Koran. No amendment is acceptable in rules that are formed in 6th century. Imagine if nothing had changed in apes. Would we be here? Imagine no change in Gods creation, not a single change in DNA strands, not a single change in environment, no extinction of Dinosaurs, for that matter no big bang (I believe in Big Bang theory). Nature is full of changes; it is full of varieties. Change in season, changes in continents, extinction of species, evolution of species, life and death and many more things. And here is a religion that denies a single change in life style, that rejects right of a follower to question or to suspect, because nothing could be change, even for sake of proving its own point of view. There is no space for existence of other kinds. No change means no progress. Stagnated minds and bodies can’t do anything good for society. I cannot see any nation progressing forward with even tiniest faith in this kind of religion. No nation that believes in stagnation can survive for longer period. Time will soon decide faith of such nation. Thankfully my homeland will not be in that list. I thank British for helping us getting rid of muslim conquerors.

India-Pakistan Reunification

I came across a very optimistic thought of reunification of India and Pakistan in one article. The author was thrilled about the idea of reunification and proposed some ideas to achieve the same. I read several comments applauding the author's view and congratulating him for his optimism. There was only one comment, which disagreed with the proposal. I share the same disagreement over the reunification.Author of the article dreams about establishing a framework that 'recognizes' as well as 'facilitate' the principle of democracy (Does the author know that Pakistanis are not familiar with this term and right now they are enjoying the rule of president who happened to be an army chief? and it is the same unawareness of democracy who facilitated militancy and misery in Pakistan...duh!), diversity (Kar lo baat...Is the author aware of the fact that the Government of Pakistan took care to convert non Muslim people and threatened the ones who resisted the conversion. History has witnessed the dramatic fall in the non islamic population in Pakistan after partition. Destruction of Buddha statue in Baamiyaan, Afghanistan by Taliban (Brian child of ISI) gives the proof of Pakistani intolerance towards other religions), Pluralism (Has the author ever heard about dominating presence of Punjabis in the Government and Army of Pakistan and ignorance towards Sidhis?) and federalism (What kind of federalism can we expect from Pakistani military raj? The one like they have achieved in Waziristan where matters are resolved by trading females in the family?). Come on.... be real. We cannot reach to an agreement with Pakistan on the fundamental issue like democracy. The journey made by India has brought her to such an extent that it would be foolish to go back and nurse the broken country with our blood, which would in return give us Kargil war and bomb blasts in Delhi and Mumbai.Foundation of Pakistan is based on fear of Hindu majority. We have all kinds of Pro-muslim parties from congress to SP, which would go to any extent to get muslim votes. Out of these people, how many were able to win Muslim confidence? Imagine what would they do once Indian mulism populations will get combined with Pakistani population. After this shameless appeasement, do you get positive response from muslims? No. They are always cribbing about the economical condition, illiteracy, unemployment, health issues, blah blah blah. At the same time they expect to establish parallel Sharia courts to practice Islam. It is impossible to give them sense of assurity, as there is not genuine feeling of insecurity amongst the muslim population. Its all about being in lime light and gain sympathy.Who wants this headache? Who wants Shia-Sunni riots in addition to hindu-muslim riots? Who wants drug trafficking, militants, shameless muslim appeasement and anarchy? I will be ashamed to be an Indian if world would start recognizing people like A.Q Khan as Indian.India has attained heights of success and recognition in very short period. It is the only country, which has made US amend its nuclear regulations. Pakistan would be the only country, which has managed to loose world's trust in such a short period and has lost its confidence completely.I oppose to reunification (if it ever happens) because I love my country.

Image of India portrayed by BBC

The moment the controversial issue of OBC reservation in education was introduced my Arjun Singh, BBC is consistently showing some documentaries on plight of lower caste people in India. Interviews of sweepers and cleaners are very commonly showed in these documentaries. Most common scene is of a woman who cleans old types of lavatories. She cries and says she would not let her children do this work at all. The scene covers busy roads, heap of rubbish, cows and pigs enjoying their feast in the heaps and tons of flies. It seems like a district place or a small city.
Let me clear to those who deliberately choose such scenes and pick such people for interviews that people living in small towns or cities are not forced to do this work. They have ample of choices and opportunities. It happens in villages and not in towns. Other thing is these people do not belong to other backward caste but they are schedule castes rather schedule tribes or nomadic tribes. Government of India has already given them reservation and facilities. People with such backgrounds are provided not only with reserved seats but with scholarships to encourage them to learn further. Another fact is that there are many South Indian and North Indian villages where majority of Zamindars belong to other backward classes. Most of them are extremely rich and can afford to send their children to learn abroad.
If BBC is so heartbroken to see these scenes why it does not ask questions to politicians ruling that village or tow? Bihar is the worst place where we can hear the stories of lower caste genocide, atrocities on lower caste etc. This place has separate settlements for lower castes. Lower caste people in Bihar and UP have to carry their footwear in their hand while crossing the upper class locality. Who is ruling Bihar? Yadav, who belongs to OBC and who calls himself messiah of poor. Why not BBC and its crew make a documentary on Laloo Yadav, Sharad Yadav and Ramvilas Paswan? How much money they own and how much they have donated to build a school for lower caste people? We do not have objection if one or all of these people build schools with their own money only for lower caste student. Lets do it!
If you feel that with all the money upper caste people have, they could afford to give their children good tuitions and better exposure then why not we reserve the seats on basis of money or income? We know some of our friends who were in our class, in our tuition classes had same kind of access to all the amenities we have then why treat them differently?
Hey, BBC mind your own business and make documentaries on suppression of Irish and Scottish revolt and oppression of the people in favor of separate Scotland or Ireland by British government. Your country destroyed their language, banned use of bag pipes and other cultural activities, and denied them the right of freedom. How about liberating them first before liberating people in Iraq? How about giving immigrants some reserved seats in education and employment to make them feel secure in your country, to not to neglect them before poking you nose in OBC reservation issue? How about making a documentary on how British police killed an immigrant after 7-11 before addressing killing of people in Kashmir? You had one attack which was enough to justify the murder of that immigrant and with all the suicide bombs, murders of Hindus and politician in Kashmir valley we are neglecting the human rights? Yeah, right!
Next time make a documentary on how people benefited by reservations do not initiate or contribute in building better infrastructure for other lower caste people, or make a documentary on how people from lower caste with good grades occupy seats for open category candidates to increase seats for other lower caste people and after choosing an open seat how he still gets reservation in employment or higher studies. Or for a change how about covering inventions made by Indian Scientist in IITs or progress made by student from IIMs or quality education available in NITs in India?

Social reaponsibilities of Muslim in the world of fear

Latest Mumbai bomb blast and foiled attempt of bomb blast in London has brought Islamic world in bad light again. It is good to see that leaders from Islamic world are coming together with the politicians to protect those who are innocent. It is good to see that Muslim leaders, after any terrorist attack, condemns the act and try to explain meaning of Islam and try to explain background of people involved in these plots.

What bothers me a lot is participation of Muslim people who feel that they are victim of racism in the modern world and express anger against discrimination or anger against people who tries to see terrorism in teaching of Islam. If these people think that they do not belong to the terrorist clan why, not a single time, information has not obtained from these people? Why they do not feel guilty when they observe suspicious activity around them and still they are not bothered to inform police or other agencies? How these terrorists get safe haven in Islamic community (they always stay in Mominpura or Bhindi bazaar in India). With so much planning, so many people involved, so many meetings, so much testing or collection of hazardous material nobody from the neighborhood is suspicious about intentions of these people. We always hear from the native people about a terrorist, " He was a lovely boy." "We never thought such a charming and nice boy could be involved in such kind of activities." Yeah right. Typical.
Folks, if you want to avoid scornful remarks you should make the world safe by performing your duties. Its sad that nobody but you have to do this duty but it is true that none other than your community is causing trouble in all over the world. Be it Bali blast, be it Mumbai blast, and be it 9-11 blast, be it London blast,be it Madrid blast each mishap has Muslim connections.
Even though every Muslim is not a terrorist, its his responsibility now to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the neighborhood. Nobody but only a common Muslim is capable of solving this issue.

Woman of substance

Yesterday a thought came to me, why women are not very successful as compared to men? At first I thought, the phenomenon of women's participation in world affairs has history of only a hundred years or so as opposed to men who have dominance in every part of life and world affairs from the beginning of the very first civilization. Considering this little span success achieved by women today, despite the social and physical limitations, is very remarkable. The comparison between male and female performance and participation itself gives evidence of female progress.

Then a thought came to me, why women have not attained visible success in recently developed fields (such as latest technology like robotics, internet etc). These fields were open to men and women at the same time. Again we can reason this out with the participation of mass of male population and female population in these fields. If, say, only 10% of male population in software services is successful then we should consider percentage of women population in software services and should not compare the performance of both sexes by considering only the numbers.
I have read many articles and have seen many programs highlighting difference between male and female behavior, difference between male and female brain development, effects of different hormones on individual. Taking into account all these things, we must go to the definition of success. Who defined success in the beginning? What are the achievements to be considered as successful? Then it came to me that all these definitions are defined by male society, all the tests and all the parameters to be successful are designed to challenge male abilities. Whole story of success is seen by male eyes and is analyzed by male brains.
Should females strive hard to fulfill those requirements and acquire those abilities? Should she at all care about what the male community is thinking about her performance? Isn't it a hypocrisy when a female could not perform a task like a male can and she is pointed out as a failure and when a female performs a task like a male then she is termed as bold or a rebel as she has more male qualities or she thinks more like a male? A man do not like his wife to think like a man and the very same community always compare male and female performance and point out female underperformance (do you recall Dr.Summer's statements?) I have always read about how women work hard, take less leaves, and tolerate criticism only to get promotion which her male colleague could get more easily. Its stupid! Its the foolishness of women which is not taking them towards the success they deserve. Why should a women employee feel guilty for not visualizing certain things in a way her male colleagues do? She should take advantage of abilities which she has. Women should become entrepreneur than a common employee. They should think of creating their own world and own parameters of success.
Think about it . Visit http://www.singlesexschools.org/advantages-equity.htm for more details.

Three laws of haunting

I am always amused when I see a spirit (ghost) haunting somebody in movies. Imagine the process stepwise (Put your geeky brain aside for a moment and think its real !)

First step:
Energy conversion law-
May be this energy is like light which could pass through our skin and gets converted into heat like energy. As we can feel heat by touch we might feel this ghost/spirit energy by changed eye color ! (typically white and in some cases red)
Note: People born on 06/06/06 may have white and red eye color by birth.

Second step:
Survival of the fittest-
Now comes the most interesting part of the process. Once the conversion processes is over the body possesses two energies and suddenly carries so much energy that, being unable to handle it, it starts trembling. Now this free spirit, since it has experienced freedom and has got an oppotunity to explore its powers without limitations of a body ( think it as Neo from Matrix), is more powerful than the spirit inside the body.
Fight between two spirits causes severe tremors and might appear as hysteric attacks. In some cases it may cause body distortions, such as wrinkled skin, blisters, change in vocal cords etc. In severe fights it may even change blood color (generally black with increased viscosity).
Some people have reported unpleasant smells from the haunted body. (Its the last change which scares me the most and forces me to carry 'Hanuman Chalisa' with me every where)

Third step:
Wait and learn:
After an effortless triumph, the free spirits enslaves the beaten spirit, acquires all the information about surrounding people and environment and waits till dark.....rest is all known.

Questions:
What happens when a social worker's spirit enters into somebody? Hmmmm.....
What happens when possessed body attacks another possessed body? or the free spirit enters into already possessed body? Interesting......

Madal II : Social justice

Education field in India has turned upside down from the day our honorable (?) HR minister Arjun Singh announced 27% quota for OBC. At least, Indian media portrayed the scene as turning point in Indian history by naming it as 'Rang de basanti' rage. Indian politicians witnessed hunger strikes and protests from anti - reservation league with scary indifference. For the first time I realized that there is nobody to give solace to so called upper caste people. The very next thought came to my mind was, 'What if some thing like Sudan happens in India?' Considering the present situation and apathy from politicians not a single sigh would be heard from these political messiahs in protest of atrocities on so called upper caste and the whole class would be wiped out from the face of Earth.

Whatever happening in India currently is not fair to anybody. But it should be considered as an opportunity to unite the upper caste people. No good is going to happen if we tolerate these things. We didn't see any protest by parents of the kids who are in high schools and will soon face quota hurdle while getting admit into BITS/IITs and other public and private colleges. We didn't see any protest from young generation who has nice jobs with big fat salaries. They will soon realize severe impact of these decisions when their jobless siblings will wander on streets and will live on anti-depressant pills.
What will happen if these people will not get admission into good institutes? How would they escape from India? On what basis would they ask asylum to other countries? Which country will accommodate them if they will not worth a single penny without good education? That will be the time when spineless middle class as well as upper caste of India would go below poverty line. This class will work so hard to meet both ends that there back and hands will be covered with soars and still won't be able to feed the family. All the brides will prefer lower castes to the higher castes. And when there would be nothing to loose this spineless class will come out and fight for their rights.
This is the chance where we will over throw the power of adamant, arrogant and foolish old school. We need young blood in power. We need somebody with broader vision. Gone should be the days of Manmohan, Arjun, Natwar, Gupt, Atal and Advani. And gone should be the days of elements which distract us from right path by bringing up caste and religion issues.

I am looking forward to those days.

Stem Cell Research : To be or not to be?

To me its a debate between future or healthy future and at what cost.

Stem cell research has shown a great potential in curing hereditary diseases as well as in diagnosing a disease whose reason and pathway in a body on macro and micro level is unknown.

Blood transfusion, bone marrow transplant etc. are practiced for last 30 years and many of us do not know even that these the products of stem cells reasearch. But as they are taken from a grown person and not from an embryo, they are termed as non-embryonic stem cells or adult stem cells. Now the scientists are exploiting the fact that a fully grown human being also has cells which show capability of reproduction or division. The research in this area is unveiling the capacities of adult stem cells beyond blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants. But unfortunately these are not as flexible (plastic) as the embryonic stem cells are.

Embryonic stem cells could show miracles in the medicine world, as it has ability to grow heart or brain cells or many other organs under controlled environment. There is no way an adult cell would match these capacities of embryonic stem cells. Now, the question is do we want to explore these capacities? Are we ready to pay its cost of unethical practices?

Sometimes I agree with the protestors of embryonic stem cell research that the nature should take its own course and nobody should disturb its creational capacities. But had it been true, earth for us would not be an easy place to live. All the luxuries in our lives are attributed to scientists who tried to understand the path of nature and most importantly tried to change that path. Test tube babies and other artificial insemination techniques, cell cultures, engineered guinea pigs etc would not have enriched our lives with drug inventions and other types of implants, if we would have left the nature the way it was.

Now, comes the question of ethics. Is it ethical to not let the embryo grow? Is it not like a murder? What do these protestors care about murders and life destruction? What do they do when thousands of female fetuses are discarded in India and in other developing countries? What did they do when the thousands of pregnant women as well as children were killed in Africa? What do they do when thousands are still killed in wars which are due to whim of a person who is president of super power? I have never heard a word uttered by these so called humanitarians or philanthropists in the protest of such unethical acts. I have never heard in any of the news when poor people in India are stripped of their organs in the name of free surgical camps. I am sure that similar unethical practices are practiced in other developing countries. Poor are still suffering as they were suffered in the beginning of civilization. Whether embryonic stem cell research is continued or aborted, plight of poor will be the same. The phenomenon of ripping off the poor is eternal.
In my opinion one should consider of embryonic stem cell research as key to healthy future. Future with crippled youth and troubled senility could be and should be avoided when its in reach of completely possible. The solution should also consist a ban on cloning. But to stop the embryonic stem cell research is obstinate.

Stop dreaming about ethical practices. It is based on the same ideals on which Communism is based. We know it didn't work. And we know this (stem cell research) couldn't be stopped.

DETERMINISTIC CHAOS

I recently came to know about the concepts of deterministic chaos in Control system class. As the part was included in our mid term exam, we toiled hard to know the concepts and definitation related to the phenomenon. Suddenly we came across the definition of word 'deterministic' in terms of philosophy on wikipedia.org and the definition was like this:
"A deterministic system is a conceptual model of the philosophical doctrine of deteminism applied to a system for understanding everything that has and will occur in the system, based on the physical outcomes of causality . In a deterministic system, every action, or cause, produces a reaction, or effect, and every reaction, in turn, becomes the cause of subsequent reactions. The totality of these cascading events can theoretically show exactly how the system will exist at any moment in time."
This reminded me of Hindu philosophy where the concept of ones fate is completely based upon such a deterministic system and concept of rebirth has evolved from it.
We learned about the chaos in context of stability of the system. We read some papers where scientist were sure that most of the systems in nature are nonlinear and even though nonlinear systems are driven by deterministic forces and scientists have linearized the nonlinear systems to understan a system, it is not possible to predict the behavior of that system over a long period. Its exactly like the weather prediction. The system is completely nonlinear and accurate weather predictions could be possible only for a week after which it becomes less accurate and after a long time predictions are absurd. This is because many small factors affect system which are impossible to take into account while modeling a system. This is Lorenzt theory.
On the same concept is it possible that hindu philosophy is over simplifying the system of fate. Is it possible to depict such a complex system as linear? What if it is nonlinear? or is it that the life span of human is so short as compared to the whole universe that linearization of this system will give accurate results? What if the span is not short? Are there such factors exisist which could cause perturbations in the system and are amplified due to cascading effect and then the system becomes chaotic?
It came to me while discussion that if we are modeling a human karma, its not just a short life time but whole cycle is applied to 'atma' where it takes birth over and over again till the error or his the sins are zero or the feelings or the attachment with this world is zero. But again is it possible for anybody to fine tune the system and anticipate all kinds of perturbation?

Maharashtra Ruled by Non-maharashtrian

I haven't studied this subject in depth, but being a maharashtrian and a marathi I have always heard about "Maharashtrian mentality" which is pulling the marathi community back in the race of power. Its been a common topic discussed amongst marathi as well as non-marathi community in Maharashtra.

I came across two articles on this topic by a non-marathi and a marathi. One tried to quote the reasons of Maharashtrian's failure in business and other tried to rule out any failure, rather he claimed marathi influence in the field of arts and sports.

Is it enough to compare whole marathi community on the basis of how a marathi performs his business or how his work ethics are or how much flexibilty he has at his work place? Is it enough to prove that the marathi's are not ruled by non-maharashtrian because they are excelling in sports and arts?

However its bitter but one should agree that there is a remarkable hold of non-marathi's on Mumbai and whole Maharashtra politics. Its not limited only to Mumbai but in every market and every office, even in the administrative departments we see non-marathi supremacy. We simply cannot deny that marathi people failed to defend themselves against non-marathi's encroachment on marathi territory.Or is it that we never realized that there is encroachment? And now we are so despaired that we see no hope to rise against this non marathi dominance? Or is it the "Marathi mentality" which is holding marathi people back from taking any action? Are we afraid that we would succumb to this dominance and nobody will give us a helping hand to come out of it evenif they are sympathatic and capable?

What is this "Marathi mentality"? Does this overshadows Marathi's only? Its not that non-maharashtian's are free from this mentality.Let's go deeper into this topic and try to find the roots of this mentality. If we try to go back into India's history, we could see that there was Chhatrapati Shivaji or Peshwa's were free from this mentality.Tilak,Hedgewar,Sawarkar,Agarkar,Tatya Tope all were marathi's.And Nathuram Godse also was a marathi.I am not proud or ashamed of him.He is a part of Indian history and it needs guts to murder a man.Ofcourse he had reasons and we could have different opinions about him.Anyways, let's not digress.Let's not label this mentality as "Maharashtrian".If you go back in pre-indepence era, everybody had this same thinking. We hold marathi's responsible for their downfall because we do not support each other, rather, given a chance, we betray each other for smallest of small opportunity to climb up the ladder of success. Was it not true when British ruled India?Weren't people uncoopretaive to the rebellions who wanted independent India? They not only betrayed the freedom fighter's but sold their independence to get promotion in British services or to win a piece of land.We blame marathi's to be afraid of taking any actions which could be risky for his life or career despite all the available facilities. Was is it impossible for Indians to gain our independence back from British Army? How many were they and how many were us?What held us back then? Can we call this mentality as a Maharashtrian? In first place, how did East India company become successful in establishing its roots in India? We were to busy to fight with neighbors.Weren't they from Punjab,Delhi,Haryana,Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan? If they are so clever and alert how did they couldn't realized Company's motive? Or were they so desperate to prove their supremacy to the neighboring maharaja's that they readily walked into Company's trap?First article said that Marathis are ready to break but not ready to show flexibilty. What about those people who were not ready forget their differences temporarily and unite to fight against their enemy? These people also lacked unity. They also lacked flexibilty. They were too stupid to forgive the enemy and then killed by the same enemy. It was Sambhaji Raje from Maharashtra who denied to become a muslim and there was Mirza Raje from Rajasthan who readily married their sister to a muslim under pressure and who happily fought against Shivaji to show their faith to Moghuls. Do you expect this kind of flexibilty? It would have been impossible to fight for the freedom with such a ethical and moral flexibilty.
Non marathi's have no right to blame marathi's for being opportunists, coward, spineless and egoist because they belong to a lineage who has same character, may be worse than marathi's.Its only 58 years after independence, shouldn't a non-marathi forget his past so early and so quickly.
I agree with the second author who asked the readers to think over the circumstances with broader views. We should first see how Gujarati people or Rajasthani people are behaving in Gujarat or Rajasthan.I am 100% sure that the scenario there is not different than Maharashtra. But they are not ruled by marathi or other people.Marathi's are not faultless. They need to come out of their secured world and face the rough realities. In one of the articles it is mentioned that marathis don't have motive to make progress. They don't have competetion in their community.Kirloskar is already a hot shot in marathi community and he doesn't have a motive to become Tata,Birla or Ambani.I completley agree with this point. We do not dream big.we harp on achievements of Shivaji and Peshwe and now we have representatives in our history book why should we strive to make a history or be a noticable part of it.Acheiving a highest position in a company makes me on the top of marathi world why should I own it?I am getting my meals and other luxuries why should I work harder to be a ruler when I am getting all my comforts being a servant.Come on people think big! Its been 58 years after independence and other people are deciding the direction of politics.Business policies are decided my non-marathis.We should not tolerate this dominance.

It could be true that people from other resion of country could behave in a similar manner as a marathi behaves in Maharashtra but we never see Marathi influence on any other part of India. When they come out of their state they always unite and try to help people from their state ot community. How many Marathi do that?We don't help each other when we are outside Maharashtra. We are mean and laid back people. We are the materialssutiable for servants. No unity,no motives,no principles,no sense of belongingness to Maharashtra. We are divided.

Work hard.Be in the focus of media.Be a fierce compititor, no matter how high you are in marathi community you should not be satisfied till you reach the top of entire Indians.Do not stamp yourself as White collar people.Form non-governement organizations.Help other people in country.Show your presence and make others to notice it.

Remeber the world is changing. If your survival demands some flexibilty, aleast think about the other possibilities.Do not deny it right away.

Jai Maharashtra!
